HOT SPRINGS NATIONAL PARK, Arkansas — Hot Springs’ Majestic Park baseball complex will be the site May 7 – 11 for National Junior College Athletic Association Region 2 Baseball Tournament, National Park College Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach Rich Thompson announced Wednesday.
The National Park College Nighthawks, which play their home games at Majestic Park, are competing for one of the eight slots in the tournament along with seven other teams from the NJCAA Region 2. The winner qualifies for the district matchup against the Region 1 winner (Arizona). That winner qualifies for the national championship tournament in Enid, Okla., at the end of May, Thompson said.
“We’re so pleased to be the host for the teams trying to advance to the NJCAA national championship,” Majestic Park General Manager Derek Phillips said. “This tournament will join the Babe Ruth League 14-year-old World Series, which we’ll host in August, as another in the series of major tournaments that have chosen our park for their games. We’re proud for our Majestic Park team and for our city as the location for these tournaments.”
